This works well for text-heavy documents with minimal graphics. For documents with colour photographs, detailed seals, or fine print, some visual detail will be lost. This is a physical constraint of file size, not a limitation of the tool.

What changes at 100 KB.

At 100 KB compression, expect the following compared to higher size targets:

• Printed text: Remains readable in most cases, though fine print below 8pt may show softening.

• Official seals and stamps: Circular seals and embossed stamps lose fine edge detail. The seal is recognisable but the micro-text around the seal perimeter may not be individually legible.

• Photographs: Passport-size photos embedded in certificates will show visible compression artifacts. Facial features remain identifiable but the image will appear noticeably softer than the original.

• Watermarks: Light background watermarks (common on government certificates) may become very faint or invisible.

• Colour gradients: Smooth gradients in logos or decorative elements may show banding.

How to verify before submitting.

Always open your compressed PDF and check these three things before uploading to any portal:

1. Your full name is clearly readable without zooming in.

2. The certificate number or registration number is legible.

3. The issuing authority's seal or stamp is recognisable (it doesn't need to be crisp — just identifiable).

If any of these fail, your source scan may be too detailed for 100 KB. Try scanning at 150–200 DPI instead of 300 DPI — this produces a smaller source file that needs less compression, resulting in better quality at the same target size.
