• A presentation deck with embedded high-resolution images. A 15-slide deck with photos can easily be 20+ MB before compression.

• A scanned booklet or report with mixed text and images across 8+ pages.

In these cases, 1 MB is actually a tight constraint. The compressor needs to aggressively downsample images while preserving text readability across all pages.

Per-page budget matters.

Think of 1 MB as a budget distributed across your pages. A 10-page document at 1 MB gives each page roughly 100 KB — the same budget as compressing a single page to 100 KB. A 5-page document gives each page 200 KB — much more comfortable.

If your result looks too compressed, consider these options: reduce the page count (split into two uploads if the portal allows it), scan at 200 DPI instead of 300 DPI, or convert colour pages to grayscale where colour isn't required.
